What A Year This Has Been...

A lot has changed since March 15, 2020, the last time I went out as the pandemic was starting. There are a few new things I've found myself doing on a regular basis:

  1. I don't feel the need to wear structured pants. Sweats do just fine, thank you.

  2. Thongs are a thing of the past. For 20 years I never left the house without making sure my lines were smooth. Now I put my big girl panties on under my leggings and proudly walk outside without a care in the world.

  3. Makeup is something I rarely bother with unless I'm taking a picture with my cat.

  4. I wear a face mask and a face shield to go out. It gets a little foggy but I feel like a million bucks prancing around Trader Joe's in double protection.

  5. Every time I come home, I jump into the shower. If, for some reason, I need to go out three different times, I take three showers. I still disinfect my groceries, which probably makes me officially obsessive compulsive.

  6. Walking barefoot on the beach once a week is very soothing.

  7. I cook twice a day, something I could never have imagined a year ago. Cooking was something I unlearned when I got divorced. Granted, now I prepare pretty much the same thing every day but still, I cook. And there's no dishwasher which means I get to clean every single plate.

  8. I've become a laundry freak.

  9. Binge watching as a disease. I experienced it the first time with Grey's Anatomy, and subsequently backed off. Then Bridgerton came along; I've watched the series countless times and I still sneak in a few minutes every now and then. I think that's a separate illness.

  10. I have a book on my night table that I read before falling asleep. What I don't keep in my bedroom anymore is my phone; I charge it in the bathroom. Who needs the extra radiation?

  11. I cuddle with my cat. Or rather, my cat cuddles with me because I'm home all the time. He's become very loving and also more demanding. Heaven forbid he doesn't get a treat when I'm near the refrigerator because the claws come out. I could care less. He's my baby.

  12. I work a lot in my voiceover booth. I've even gotten up at 6:30am to appease the east coasters for a session. It's a bit early but hey, why not? All I need to do is roll out of bed, put my contacts in, eat a green apple so my stomach doesn't growl and I'm good to go.

The one thing I can say is that I have nothing to complain about. I'm happy in my life right now. This past year has taught me a lot. Thank you, 2020. 🎉 🎙🎈
